Questions and Answers on Kinky Hair

Questions and Answers on Kinky Hair

Good day everyone, so today I will be answering all the questions I get on social media about my hair, and how I have been able to maintain it in Nigeria.
If I was unable to answer or I forgot to give an answer to your question you can DM me on Instagram, I will put a link to my Instagram page. I also made a video on this, I will also put the link directly to the video on YouTube so that you all can go watch it

SO LET’S GET STARTED!!

1, did you be chop or you transitioned
No honey, I dare not ,I just did not have the balls to cut the whole of my hair off, so I just transitioned and after 4 months I decided to cut the relaxed part off, it was a really hard decision to make, I just had to and I don’t regret it.

2, what have you learned about you hair (kinky hair)
I have learned that my hair is the most hated in the natural hair community, because it is seen as ugly, nappy, too frizzy, to dry, shrinks a whole lot, but I tell you this I will not trade my hair for any other kind of natural hair, no matter what they say about my type of hair, I will not stoop low to such and I refuse to hate my hair based on the opinions of others probably those whose edges never grow. I love my hair period!!

3, what is healthy hair to you
Personally healthy hair is using what you have to get what you want, what I am trying to say is that do not go broke trying to use natural hair brand name products, I am in Nigeria, trying to buy products here especially if you are not working ,is not easy at all, and it really gets on me , when I see post online about the protocols of natural hair, do this and that to your hair, bl blab la,  and I also hear and read people say their natural hair don’t like cheap products making those who don’t have money go broke trying to buy expensive product, buying the most expensive product don’t mean your hair will grow, simple truth is just take care of your hair how you can.!

4, have you ever wanted someone else’s hair?
Yes I have, when I first went natural, I just hated my hair so much, when I watched YouTube videos and I saw all the curly hair and I loved the style but could not achieve it, it just made me hated my hair the more, but as time passed, I realized that God made us unique ,and I try to put in my own ideas to achieve the style I want with my hair ,might not be exactly the exact style but it will be 90 percent close to the style, took me a while to realize that , but I am happy I did and I hope other kinky hair ladies do that too.

5, will you change anything about your hair
No honey I will not change a thing about my hair, I love my shrinkage, I love the look on people’s face when they think I cut my hair and when I stretched my hair they are like’ ’wow. Never knew your hair could do that’’, also love that I have the best of both words on my head, I can decide to go afro, I can decide to look relaxed by straitening my hair, so what is there to exchange again? Nothing!!

6, how long have you been natural?
I have been natural for a year plus, April 2014 , and sometimes I don’t even see the growth ,until I look at my past pictures and videos and I always thank God for growth.

7, would you relax your hair?
NO I won’t, having the best of both works is enough for me, I am not against those who are relaxed, I have seen really beautiful relaxed hair, but I won’t go back to being relaxed!

8, did u have support from friends and family?
From my friends yes, they are always eager to know how I comb my hair, wash and style it, most of them get encouraged just by looking at my hair and they want to go natural but after three months they don’t even realize when they step into the salon and relax their hair, but my family think it weird but I do get support from my sisters, they are really and very supporting.

9, what type of encouraging words do you for someone returning natural
Patience, care, love and understanding especially if you have the kinky hair, there is no two ways on growing natural hair, all I have to say is do what you can, what might work for the other person might not work for u that is why u have to study you hair and understand what it likes and dislikes, my sister is natural too, has the kinky hair, and I have the kinky hair too but the tips and methods I use on my hair cannot work for her.
